THE JOURNEY

A History That Keeps Moving

From a coffee plantation established in 1874 to a living heritage destination today, De Karanganjar has passed through generations of change while remaining rooted in the same landscape.

1874–1945

THE EARLY YEARS

De Karanganjar Koffieplantage was established in 1874 by H. J. Velsink and Hendrik van Vredenbergh. It was later managed by NV Cultuur Maatschappij Karanganjar.

In 1942, the arrival of the Japanese brought plantation activities to a halt. Karanganjar entered a period of inactivity.

1945–1957

A PERIOD OF TRANSITION

After Indonesia gained independence, De Karanganjar Koffieplantage gradually resumed operations.

The plantation was briefly managed by NV Kooy & Voorhout, followed by the government Plantation Service.

1945

A NEW PERIOD

1957–1963

FROM NATIONALIZATION TO PT HARTA MULIA

In 1957, the Indonesian government nationalized foreign-owned companies.

Denny Roeshadi, who had previously worked at De Karanganjar, took over the management of the plantation.

In 1960, Denny established PT Harta and obtained a cultivation right to manage the plantation. In 1963, PT Harta was renamed PT Harta Mulia.

1963–PRESENT

THREE GENERATIONS

After Denny Roeshadi, management of the plantation was passed on to his two sons, Herry Noegroho and Endro Hermono, and later to his grandson, Wima Brahmantya.

With the arrival of the third generation, Keboen Kopi Karanganjar entered a new chapter.
