Museums at De Karanganjar
De Karanganjar’s museums offer different ways to explore the plantation’s long history. Through historic rooms, family collections, heirlooms, paintings, and cultural objects, visitors can encounter the people and stories that have shaped Karanganjar across generations.
Museum Roemah Lodji
Housed in one of the oldest buildings on the plantation, Museum Roemah Lodji offers a glimpse into the history of Karanganjar and the Roeshadi family, who managed the plantation for three generations. The building itself is part of the story, preserving the atmosphere of an earlier chapter in the plantation’s history.
One of the most notable spaces inside is Room 806, dedicated to President Soekarno. According to De Karanganjar’s records, Soekarno visited the plantation in the late 1950s and spent several hours resting in this room. The space preserves a connection between the history of Karanganjar and a significant period in Indonesia’s early years as an independent nation.

Museum Noegroho
Named after Herry Noegroho, one of the owners of De Karanganjar and a former Regent of Blitar, Museum Noegroho brings together much of the private collection of Herry Noegroho and his son, Wima Brahmantya. The collection reflects the family’s connection to the plantation as well as their interest in the history and culture of Blitar.
Among the objects preserved here are ancestral heirlooms, paintings, and a collection of Batik Tutur Blitar. The museum also houses cultural objects connected to the traditions and stories of the region, offering visitors a broader view of the heritage surrounding Karanganjar.
The museum is therefore more than a collection of old objects. Each room and collection provides another piece of the story of the people, culture, and history connected to De Karanganjar, allowing the plantation’s heritage to be experienced beyond its coffee fields and historic buildings.
