Independence Day celebrations at Karanganjar Coffee Plantation are always filled with a festive atmosphere and full of emotions.
There are various ways to revive the spirit of nationalism among the people, both young and old.
One of the important activities carried out is the flag ceremony, which involves various layers of society, including local agencies.
The "17s ceremony" has become an annual event at Karanganjar Coffee Plantation.
Although this tradition existed in the past, over time, this ceremony was absent for several years.
However, in 2015, the tradition was revived with vigour.
The ceremony started at 08.00 and lasted until 09.00 WIB at the De Karanganjar Koffieplantage office yard.
The ceremony was attended by all staff and employees of PT Harta Mulia, volunteers from abroad, representatives of local agencies, and students of Harapan Nasional Kindergarten and Perwanida Kindergarten.
What makes this ceremony unique is the use of an old-timey version of the "Indonesia Raya" song, played with a distinctive "cempreng and kresek-kresek" sound, adding a nostalgic and authentic feel to the commemoration.
Although there were no military officers or paskibraka on duty, and there were some minor mistakes in the execution, the spirit of nationalism was strong among all participants.
The ceremony may be simple, but it is no less important than the state ceremony at the State Palace.
In fact, the ambassadors present at this ceremony were interns from various countries, such as Vietnam.
Unlike the ceremony at the State Palace, here they participated in saluting the Red and White flag, a unique and touching experience.
After the ceremony, the activity continued with various competitions that were attended by Harapan Nasional Kindergarten and Perwanida Kindergarten students.
These competitions, such as cracker-eating, colouring and marbles, were held in the Vredestuin De Karanganjar Koffieplantage area.
This activity not only added to the excitement, but also strengthened the sense of community and fighting spirit among the participants.
The meaning of independence here lies not only in symbolic celebrations, but also in efforts to maintain and instil the values of nationalism in the next generation.
Through this simple yet meaningful activity, the spirit of independence is maintained and passed on, reminding us of the importance of unity and togetherness in maintaining the hard-fought independence.
