There is a painting in our place that is said to give goosebumps to anyone standing right in front of it.
"The Last Portrait", a painting by Lan Di that Bapak bought in Beijing a few years ago.
I still remember that this painting was once installed in the family room in the pavilion, but then it was taken down and stored in the warehouse, because some people felt creeped out and horrified by the painting. Including my mother, who said she was uncomfortable seeing the Chinese girl's gaze.
If you look at the background of this painting, it is not surprising that there is an aura of sadness emitted. It is said that Lan Di, the painter who is also the father of the girl, intended to migrate to leave his child. And before leaving he painted his son as a memento. Then years later the father found out that his daughter had died.
That is why this painting is called "The Last Portrait".
For those who want to see or perhaps want to get goosebumps, please come to Moesioem mBlitaran at Keboen Kopi Karanganjar.
