I realised this truth while travelling with a French girl (eaaa!!) a few years ago. When we were travelling through the rice fields, she was so excited that she switched on her camera.
“Ceklik .. ceklik”.
I wondered, what's so special about rice fields? But he told me that it was beautiful because there was no view like this in Europe.
Even an intern from Tunisia (who is used to living in the desert) was moved to tears by the sight of Telaga Pacuh near our verdant plantation.
Eehhmmm …. biasa aja tuuh, jawab saya sambil cengar-cengir.
In this photo I uploaded, an Italian intern was excited to see a field of pineapples. He had no idea that pineapples grow underground.
So far we have seen that nature in other continents, Europe for example, is so beautiful and we sometimes wonder why we were not born there. But let's not forget that tropical nature with its coconut trees, palms, bananas, rice paddies is very enchanting to other nations. There is no region that has such a rich flora and diversity of fruits as the tropics like this archipelago.
Cherry blossoms are very beautiful, but perhaps not that beautiful to the Japanese. So we can be fascinated by the beauty of foreign native plants but that doesn't mean it's okay to make fun of our own native plants.
Especially if you don't know the properties and ecological benefits, like water hyacinth plants for example.
Eh?!
